First of all, praise be to God for His love, mercy, and power in enabling us to organize the Asian Discipleship Summit 2016, held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center from June 16th to the 19th, 2016.
The conference theme was “Come, Follow Me”. Over 5000 participants attended the conference, heralding from 27 countries all over the world. The sheer magnitude of the conference required a rigorous preparation that would plan for every aspect of it, from start to finish.
In order to do so, God mercifully equipped us with wisdom, strength, and guidance to organize this conference. We were also greatly helped by the prayers and support of our brothers and sisters from all around the world to organize a conference that reflected the love and faith we have as disciples of Jesus.
In anticipation of the many varied backgrounds of the participants, a variety of classes was prepared at ADS 2016 to suit the participants’ ages, professions, genders, spiritual maturities, and so forth. Classes ranged from parenting topics to topics for professionals, from gender-specific classes to age-specific classes.
A Praise and Worship Event was prepared for ADS 2016 that included a number of professional dancers, singers, and musicians – all disciples who have committed their lives to following Jesus. The intense preparation that had been required for this event resulted in an incredible display of praise and worship.
Singles, Teens and Pre-teens were provided a special luncheon at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK). The married couples were likewise served their own luncheons at the same time. Additionally, the Precious Women Ministry was provided their own event that was held on the second day of ADS at 15:30.
In order to support quality time and fellowship, ADS 2016 provided booths for photo taking as well as tours that participants could sign up for during the registration process prior to ADS.
In consideration of the children, ADS 2016 provided Bibleland. This was a place where children could come and watch shows, sing songs, and play games based on stories and characters of the Bible while their parents attended the conference. Some examples of games that were provided are Fruits of the Spirit, The Fall of Jericho, and Noah’s Ark. The skits ranged from Daniel in the Lion’s Den to Jonah in the Belly of the Whale. Approximately 900 children came to Bibleland, and all were split into groups that were closely guarded by an adult guardian. It is our hope that the children might retain some of the principles and values of the Bible through the 25 games and daily biblical skits that the children were entertained by.
In conclusion we would like to thank you for your support, prayers, and participation in ADS 2016. It is our hope that through this conference, we will continue to become more and more like Christ, growing in our faith in God, according to His perfect will and plan.
To God be the glory.
